In case you didn't know, here's the back story in a nutshell. Pella called and asked me to cover (full time) for a girl who was going out on maternity leave. She is due at Christmas but was unexpectedly written out of work by her doctor on 11-18. So I agreed and went back Monday the 24th to fill her shoes.
Fortunantly my dad has this week off and was able to watch Lucy on short notice. I've been able to line of family and friends to watch her for most days. If any of you are interested in babysitting from 8:30 - 4:30 during the week let me know!!! I still need help. Next week is covered but the weeks after still have gaps. I'm not worried tho. No need to do that, I say. I'm just taking this one week at a time.
It's been nice to be back in the land of adults. Funny we only seem to talk about our kids! I enjoy feeling needed, too. As much as I enjoy this, I'm glad it's just for a few weeks. I really miss Lucy. Yesterday I only got to play with her for about an hour the whole day! And that was only because I went home at lunch. She fell asleep at 4:45pm and didn't get up until 6 this morning (with some feedings during the night).
One the lady gets back to work we will be doing a job-share so we can both spend time with our families. I hope it all works out!
Oh what a weekend!
Saturday morning we got up and went to the church building for a meeting with the Children's Education Committee. The CEC is new and they introduced themselves, explaining that there is no longer a paid Director running the program. It's now these extraordiary women leading the way. In my opinion every one of them is perfect for the job. They are all outstanding examples of Christ. Breakfast was served and it was delicious! Job well done Warren (and Darren and Alisha!). My tummy was full of coffee (Pumpkin Spice creamer!), pancakes, french toast, eggs, and bacon. We listend to the goals and challenges these women and our church are facing and how they plan to proceed. I was very encouraged and excited by the end of the meeting.
We were then off to my mother's house for a Thanksgiving feast with family. There was a great turnout: Josh and Andrea, Aunt Melody and Uncle Fred, Rachel and her 6 month old by Thorn, Rachel's friend William, Danny's mom Carmen and his two sons David and Jason. It was so wonderful to meet Thorn and watch him and Lucy play together. He is the cutest little boy! I'll post pictures soon. I would do it now but the camera battery is charging. We had a blast at my mom's and enjoyed hanging out with family.
Sunday was a whole other story... We got up and went to church as usual. Lucy enjoyed Cradle Roll and being with friends. Afterward we all went to Randy and Kathy's to celebrate Melinda's birthday. Rodney and Cynthia, with their two kids, were down from Washington for the Thanksgiving holiday. It was great to see how much the kids have grown! I think the last time I saw them Ella was 2? And now she's 4?
Lunch was delicous, spaghetti and garlic bread! Lucy enjoyed (hehe) her lunch of Pear Blueberry Oat with DHA. She enjoyed it so much that a few hours later she let it all come back out, just to taste it again I'm sure. Oh boy, oh boy. I had just nursed her and she had JUST fallen asleep. I laid her on my shoulder and by the time I realized her tummy was churning it was all over the both of us and she was awake. EW! I didn't have anything to change into so Jessica gave me the shirt she was wearing!!! (She had a change of clothes) What a wonderful sister! We all thought Lucy was done and Nessa was holding her. Then BAM she vomits on Nessa and the floor. DOUBLE EW! Our lovely sister Jessica then gave Ness the PANTS she wearing. My sister gave us the clothes off her back!!!!! After we left Lucy threw up again in the car and promptly fell asleep. She slept for about an hour and when she woke up she was her happy normal self. Like nothing had happened! Silly me thought this ment she was OK... so I fed her. And she threw up on me again. I won't be that dumb next time (ew, next time).
We didn't feed her much for the rest of the night. She fell asleep and I only nursed her from one side at a time during the night. Hoping that she could keep down smaller portions of food. It worked! And she has seemed fine since.

Elmo, who woulda thunk?
We don't watch Sesame Street here. I don't even know if it's still on. We don't watch Elmo's World. She's never had any interaction with Elmo.

She crawls (practically at lightning speed) over to the TV, pulls herself up and stares intently at Elmo. She got so excited!!! Like it was Christmas morning or something.
Yesterday we were at the store and I saw the Sesame Street section so I thought I would try Elmo in person. SHE WENT CRAZY! Laughing and clapping her hands, she go so animated and excited! Maybe it's the red body? Maybe it's the singing? Who knows but she seems to really love Elmo.

I'm fabulous! Haha, that's for all you Project Runway viewers out there.
Really, I'm going back to work this Monday for Pella! It's a temporary full-time position while someone is out on maternity leave. When she comes back we will switch to a job-share position so we each have time to spend with our families. I'm excited and nervous. I hate having to leave Lucy all day; I hope it will be worth it to do the job-share.

Fire's part deux
Above are some videos I took while driving home today. Oh, while Daniel was driving and I was a passenger :)
I just heard that Brea Canyon burnt down. That is the continuation school for Brea Olinda High School and they are on the same property. I wonder what's left of the high school??
Our local fires!
For once it's not Daniel's parents neighborhood on fire! The sucky part is that it's mine. Our lovely little city of Brea is burning down! Oh it's not really that bad (yet?). The brushy areas are burning and the smoke is atrocious.
Here is the Corona fire at approx 10:30 am. Notice the lovely blue sky around it.
Here is the same sky at approx 2pm. Scary! The Corona fire has spread to Anaheim Hills and Yorba Linda. Lots of damage in those areas. Combine that with the Brea fire and where we live now looks like Hell. Fires and smoke all around us.

Halloween
Great-Gramma Kathy made Lucy a cute little pumpkin beanie. 
We didn't dress her up in a costume this year. No way was I gonna spend $40ish on a costume she would cry while wearing, not actually trick-or-treat in, and have no memory of. So Gramma and Grampa bought her this pumpkin onesie. Too cute!!
And, of course, the obligatory picture with Mr. Skeleton. Nessa and Jessica have pictures with him from every Halloween growing up.
